Statement
Through video, sound, sculpture, screen printing, drawing, and photography, my work operates between the lines of truth and fabrication, alongside the narratives of queer people, the working class, and mainstream media. In a past series of work revolving around the TV show Survivor, I cast myself as the first genderqueer contestant. I placed myself within found footage and built a narrative using cliches and references from the show.
My current work is inspired by my day job as a t-shirt screen printer. Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, I screen print t-shirts for local businesses. I often imagine the type of working class people that wear these shirts and what they do while wearing them. My labor is activated by their labor.
